A day in Sanremo

Start at the Mercato Annonario with a slice of sardenaira, then climb through La Pigna’s stone arches and stairways to the Giardini Regina Elena. In the afternoon, head down to Via Matteotti, walk past the casino and save the last light for the Passeggiata dell’Imperatrice.

Stone lanes and squares above the sea

Cross Dolceacqua’s arched bridge and walk up towards the Doria castle, then stop for coffee in Apricale’s square. On another day, explore the artists’ studios in Bussana Vecchia or the church square above the sea in Cervo. For a trip inland, follow the Argentina Valley from Taggia to Triora.
